alright people, this is getting out of control. i'm not trying to underestimate the seriousness of this virus, but just WASH YOUR DAMN hands and practice a sanitary lifestyle and you should be fine. but you wouldn't be able to tell from looking at these photos from around the world.

a beagle in beijing tries to sniff out the flu.

a statue on reforma avenue in mexico city is playing it safe by wearing a mask.

a vet in thailand swabs a pigs nose to test for the virus.

the end of the tomboy?

4/14/2009 11:08:00 AM / Posted by [redacted] / comments (0)

Where has the tomboy gone? She's still around, she just no longer needs that label -- or its dress code. Nor does she need marketing-driven pressure to start worrying whether she's pretty and stylish at ever earlier ages...

this makes me kinda sad. now don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with being a girly girl. in fact, i consider myself somewhere between tomboy and girly girl. i love sports and football and beer and "hanging with the guys". but i also love dressing up and wearing makeup and looking pretty.

my sister is actually a good example of the mentioned article. she is far from a tomboy. she loves pink and purple and dresses and cheerleading (yes, she's a cheerleader at age 7). at that age my two best friends were named ricky and seth and we hung out during recess on the playground. we couldn't be any more different. and that's fine. just kinda weird to think of the "tomboy" as a dying breed. then again, we didn't have hannah montana when i was a kid.

note to self: wear more red

The woman in red really drives men crazy
Color increases attractiveness; reaction may be biological, study suggests

If a woman wants to drive the men wild, she might want to dress in red.

Men rated a woman shown in photographs as more sexually attractive if she was wearing red clothing or if she was shown in an image framed by a red border rather than some other color, U.S. researchers said on Tuesday.

The study led by psychology professor Andrew Elliot of the University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y., seemed to confirm red as the color of romance — as so many Valentine's Day card makers and lipstick sellers have believed for years.

so, that's it? that's all i've been missing? consider a new wardrobe bought.
