is this the beginning of the end for diamond dave? has his career run its course at free fm? when my alarm clock went off this morning, i did not awake to the voice of david lee roth, but instead that of jv and elvis. and then afterward from 10-1, instead of jv and elvis, was the booker show.

hmmm...it is hump day. wednesdays aren't opposite day are they? i mean, just yesterday and the day before, dave had been broadcasting from miami. but then, i found this mediaweek article (below). if i had a magic 8 ball, it would say "outlook not so good".

David Lee Roth Absent for Radio Show
Mike Boyle, Billboard Radio Monitor

MARCH 29, 2006 - Listeners to CBS Radio's David Lee Roth morning show in New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Dallas woke up Wednesday morning (March 29) to WFNY-FM (Free FM) New York midday personalities JV & Elvis in Roth's place, while listeners in Boston and West Palm Beach woke up to music.

At Roth's New York flagship, Mark Chernoff, program director for WFNY (formerly WXRK-FM) had no comment about why the morning man was missing in action on what would have been his third day broadcasting live from Miami's trendy South Beach. Chernoff wouldn't comment on whether the morning man would return on Thursday. S

ince Roth took over the morning daypart on many former Howard Stern stations, early indications from the Arbitron monthly trends suggest lackluster ratings. WFNY nighttime personality Booker filled in for JV & Elvis in midday on Wednesday, with part-time personality Julie Slater set to fill in for Booker, playing music --as the station does on weekends.

Calls to CBS Radio officials seeking comment were not returned.

okay, i get it. maybe his ratings are sagging. maybe some people aren't really dazzled by his radio personality. but i'm rooting for dave. it's kinda like rooting for the bad news bears. at the end of the movie you want them to beat that other jackass team.

but i guess in reality, the bears lose to that jackass team. dave, my fingers are crossed. and hey, mark chernoff, if you're reading this, can you give me a job please? i'll work mornings or late nights. thanks.
