"cradle of love", and other reasons i love billy idol

the man pictured to the left was one of the reasons i loved rock in the 80s and 90s. i only say 90s because "charmed life" which contained the track "cradle of love" was released in 1990. that used to be one of my favorite music videos. but if you think about a ten year old loving a music video about a girl seducing an older, geeky guy, maybe i have issues that i need to deal with.

the reason for my blog tribute to billy idol is because i completely forgot about a musical piece titled "hot in the city". i think for years i actually forgot that was a billy idol song. so what did i do for the rest of the day? listen to other hits such as "mony mony", "white wedding", "dancing with myself". he's awesome.

the rest of my weekend was stressing out over a few ideas that i had to come up with. but i got that out of the way. the good news is that this little project required me to pay attention to the news and other current events more closely than i ever had to before. so this weekend i watched the likes of wolf blitzer, tim russert, anderson cooper, george stephanopoulos and other abc/nbc/cnn correspondents tell me what the hell was going on in the world. let me tell you, it gets pretty damn boring listening to the same stupid stories over and over again. i'll give props to "60 minutes" though for airing an interesting piece on the dixie chicks that i might have otherwise missed.

so after a weekend of turning my brain into useless mush, i got to watch two hours of wonderful abc programming. let me tell you, the abc dramas are BRINGING IT. i know many people have jumped off the "desperate housewives" bandwagon, but crap that show is good again. and only has one episode left. and can i say that staring to watch "grey's anatomy" might be one of the best decisions i made this year.

i hope you all had wonderful weekends and that you wished your mom a happy day. she did give you life on this earth after all.
