go see this movie

i went to go see an inconvenient truth this weekend. i try and make myself aware of global and political issues on a regular basis. and i definitely know that our climate is in the midst of a huge crisis. but this movie really was eye opening and put things into a much clearer perspective.

as i was watching this movie, i couldn't help but think of some of my family members. now, i usually try and avoid talking about any sort of political issues with my family because 1) it's not polite, and 2) politics + my family + me= don't mix well.

one of my family members in particular doesn't care about the current crisis because "it doesn't affect" him. after explaining that it is taking a toll on how we live today and that it will continue to dramatically affect future generations (including my future great-grandkids, his future great grandchildren, etc) he still wasn't phased because "he won't be here". so "not my problem" was his bottom line. it was so frustrating because there's obviously nothing you can use to argue against that if someone is so stubbornly sticking to the "i'll be dead" point of view.

it's frightening to see everything that is going on with the environment (and everything that will continue to happen if we as a world do not change our habits). for more info on the little things you can do to help, go to climatecrisis.net.
