so last night after work, i decided to go see a movie with some co-workers after work. i figured, "it beats going to my apartment and cranking up my ac that drives up my electric bill." i mean, at least in the movie theater you get to hang out with friends, enjoy a movie, and be in the air conditioned theater.

i headed back home and approached my block a little after 10pm. i knew it was bad news when i saw con ed trucks all down my block and hundreds of people standing outside their apartments in the dark. CRAP! this is not what i wanted to come home to. i just wanted to unwind and relax. instead i came home to a dark apartment and took a cold shower by candlelight and read my entertainment weekly by candlelight as well. it was nothing like the blackout of '03. it was only parts of queens (which unfortunately included my neighborhood). apparently the power had been out in my neighborhood since 4pm. it came back on sometime in the middle of the night. but i managed to wake up without an alarm clock which was a miracle in itself.

i hope we don't have another blackout in nyc. i really don't want to re-live the summer of '03 again.
