it's not a pretty picture around these offices. my friends and i have exchanged a few e-mails since last week about the rumored lay offs at mtvn. since then they've proven to be more than just rumors. acquaintances of mine have lost their jobs and some of my friends colleagues have been laid off as well.

i feel like i'm getting more info about this through gawker than the president.

It's not just "permalance" getting laid off. It's also SVPs and EVPs that have been here for over 10 years!! Have families, kids, etc.Everyone is getting in elevators asking around "are you ok?" "are you cut?" It's not a pretty picture here...Another source tells us that MTV World -- which includes Chinese-American themed MTV Chi, South Asian -themed MTV Desi and Korean American themed MTV K -- has completely folded. But there's a light at the end of the tunnel! We hear that campus-only channel MTVu's entire staff will be spared. (Lamb's blood over the door?)
