so a few weeks ago, i (like many others) e-mailed my congresswoman to see if i could get tix to the hottest event of '09...the obama inauguration. i got the automated e-mail saying that they had an overwhelming amount of requests...blah blah blah...they would do a lottery..blah blah blah...be notified in december.
i got said notification today.
it might be too small to see, but the last two sentences of the 2nd paragraph state:
"I regret to inform you that your name was not one of the names selected. However, this does not preclude you from attending the ceremony."
translation:
"hey idiot. do you know how many MILLIONS of people tried to get these same tickets as you? i've never heard from you before this request. so you are DENIED the privilege of witnessing one of the best moments in american history. good day ma'am."
oh well. it was worth a shot. thanks for nothing carolyn maloney. i'm still thinking of taking the bus to DC for the day with or without your stupid tickets.
