last night, on a whim, i went to the landmark sunshine cinema on houston street. i was afraid the movie was sold out (and it nearly was by when i bought my ticket...only 14 seats left). luckily i have learned my lesson to get there a half hour before the movie starts (especially on opening night in nyc) and found myself a seat with no problem at all.
now the movie won't win any "feel good movie of the year" awards, but i'm so happy i went to go see it. and i think i love mickey rourke now. not in the romantical sense, but he played such a sympathetic character that you just feel for him. so maybe it's not the rourke i like, but randy "the ram" robinson instead. then again, i did love rourke in sin city also...

bottom line: i highly recommend the film. but just in case, here's how i'll sum up the movie: wrestling + has been + loneliness + alcohol + strippers + estranged family= the wrestler
