the family puppy, continued

5/01/2009 02:08:00 PM / Posted by [redacted] / comments (1)

a week or two ago i posted a few pictures of the puppy that my dad, stepmom, and sister are getting (half-sister if you want to get technical, hence why she's so much younger than me).

anyway, dad sent a photo update, which means new photos of rocky and the family! i think rocky's only 5 weeks old, so it's still gonna be a few weeks before my family can take him home. but in the meantime, lots of cute puppy photos to come!

swine flu: a photo montage

alright people, this is getting out of control. i'm not trying to underestimate the seriousness of this virus, but just WASH YOUR DAMN hands and practice a sanitary lifestyle and you should be fine. but you wouldn't be able to tell from looking at these photos from around the world.

a beagle in beijing tries to sniff out the flu.

a statue on reforma avenue in mexico city is playing it safe by wearing a mask.

a vet in thailand swabs a pigs nose to test for the virus.

new 'do for the new 'do

4/27/2009 02:41:00 PM / Posted by [redacted] / comments (0)

so it's been about 2 weeks since i cut my hair and i'm FINALLY getting used to it. i've worn my hair curly ONCE in that time, and only because it was raining and i really stand no chance against mother nature. however, today i feel like i finally am getting the hang of it and am happy with the curly 'do.

p.s. what's with the bags under my eyes? i'm only 28.

my new 'do

4/16/2009 09:36:00 AM / Posted by [redacted] / comments (0)

yesterday was a big day folks...I CHOPPED MY HAIR OFF!!! well, that's a slight exaggeration. it's not like my hair was so long that i could sit on it or so long that when they cut it i had enough to donate to someone less fortunate. more like, although i love my hair long, i hate the time it takes to make it look nice. and with summer approaching (eventually), i didn't even want to fathom having long hair in 100 degree weather.

and no, before you say anything, my hair ISN'T blue. i think it's just a combination of the way the sun is hitting my hair and that bright blue shirt i'm wearing. all in all, i'm in love with it. if you're in the need of a good hair stylist, head over to the maria mok salon in the east village and ask for jessica. she was AMAZING.

next up...highlights! or some sort of color...TBD.

i can't even take how adorable these photos are

4/16/2009 12:27:00 AM / Posted by [redacted] / comments (0)

breaking news! my dad, stepmom, and sister are getting a puppy. right now, the lab is only 3 weeks old and they have decided they're gonna name him rocky. yeah, sorta kinda generic, but my sister named him and she's 7. it could've been worse. she could've named him something like "jonas brothers", "zac efron" or "hannah montana".

so here's the rocky in all his adorable glory. your heart will explode:

topshop: ever heard of it?

4/03/2009 02:31:00 PM / Posted by [redacted] / comments (0)

yesterday, the biggest european fashion import since H&M hit NYC. i can't believe that years ago, there was actually this much excitement over the fact that H&M arrived in the U.S. and in fact, i'm sure we'll feel the same about topshop soon enough. but yes, topshop finally opened it's doors in NYC and it was a MADHOUSE.

to be honest, this just further proves american's obsession with everything european. while they do have some very cute things (and not so cute things), it's still pretty pricey. and for that i'll continue doing my discount shopping at h&m and forever 21. but if i feel like splurging, there are a few things that i would love to have.

in any event, i didn't make it INSIDE the store because of course the lines were CRAZY long. don't believe me? take a look. these photos were taken at around 5:30pm EST.

now being unemployed definitely made it easier for me not to want to wait in a line so i could go inside and NOT buy anything. but sheesh. get a grip people. you're in SoHo. there are stores EVERYWHERE.

gas prices in nyc

4/02/2009 08:16:00 PM / Posted by [redacted] / comments (0)

sometimes when i'm on the phone with my dad, he asks "how much is gas in nyc right now?" and 9 times out of 10, i have no idea. mostly because i don't have a car (duh). but every once in a while i'll walk by one of the few gas stations that exists in manhattan.

so this one's for you, dad:

i know it's hard to see, but regular gas is running $2.29/gallon. when i called my dad to tell him this he was like, "that's not bad. it's $1.89/gallon here." (sidenote: my dad lives in south texas)

spring is almost here!

3/25/2009 09:34:00 AM / Posted by [redacted] / comments (0)

i know spring technically started last week, but i feel mother nature has yet to bring spring to nyc. however, this morning at boot camp, the sun was shining brightly and i actually took off my fleece. also, i saw these tulips at the deli on my way home. when they start selling tulips and daffodils at the deli, you know it's springtime in new york city.
