last night i went to a benefit for the victims of hurricane katrina, that also commemorated the one-year anniversary of the event.
sure i did a good deed. my $35 donation is for a good cause. but is it wrong of me to say that the motivating factor was that the $35 i donated also allowed me to participate in a 3-hour open bar? if you think i'm a total a-hole for saying that, then just ignore that last part and pretend it was a completely unselfish act.
it was a pretty awesome night though. my friend M got herself (and me by association) on the vip list. i never would've guessed that by the end of the night, i would've been at arms length with ?uestlove (from the roots) and moby (who both performed) and sharing a booth with drea demateo and julia stiles. but i guess that's the beauty of nyc, you never know who you're gonna run into.
after the event, we went to a bar in the east village and realized it was midnight and we still hadn't eaten dinner. so of course we asked someone to get us some food and we dined on quesadillas and salad. yummy.
i love this city.
