last night marked a milestone, my friends. me and three of my cousins, ages 29, 21, and 21 all went out to a bar together for the first time. my aunts told me to put some lip gloss on.
me: why bother? i'm going out with three boys. no one's gonna hit on me tonight.
my aunt: you never know. you could meet the man of your dreams tonight.
me: does it matter? i don't live here.
my aunt: he could move to new york.
she may have followed it up with a "or you could move here". but funny how she suggests he move up to nyc first rather than have me move back.
anyhow, my cousins and i went to the londoner in addison. it's an awesome bar/restaurant with a, you guessed it, london theme. and as soon as we walked in last night, there was a beatles cover band playing. it was awesome!
so as my cousin M goes to the bar to get me a blue moon, i run into my junior high boyfriend. i would say it was a surprise, but he does live in the area, so it wasn't that big of a shock.
so there we are, my cousins M, A, and R and we get to the topic of relationships and girls (or boys, in my case). my cousin M proceeds to say one of the funniest things i've ever heard in my life:
"i like girls who look like they haven't eaten in two weeks."
being that he's 29 (aka, my age group) and single and lives in nyc like me, i now know one more reason that i am single. guys like my cousin seek coke head model types who look like they are on the brink of collapsing.
the night only got weirder when my cousin M says he wishes he had a cigarette (he's a casual smoker) and my cousin pulls out a pack of marlboro reds. freakin' REDS! the same cousin who had only had 3 beers in his whole life. i never thought i'd see the day where i'd be hanging out with my younger cousins drinking beers while theys smoked reds and talked about growing their own weed.
all in all, a fantastic night. it only made me wish that we lived closer to each other so we could have more nights like the last.
