so i came home to my apartment and sorted through the mail that i received over the last week. some were bills (yuck), and some were holiday cards that i didn't receive before i left (side note: i did not send out holiday cards for the first time in like, 5 years at least).
then i get to THIS piece of mail:

in case you can't see it, it's a clear envelope with a taped up piece of mail inside. on the back, a message that says:
"dear valued postal customer:i want to extend my sincere apology for the enclosed docuent that was inadvertently damaged in handing by your postal service. we are aware how important your mail is to you. with that in mind, we are forwarding it to you in an expeditious fashion..."
it goes on to say a bunch of other crap, but you get the idea. "inadvertently damaged"? "forwarding it in an expeditious fashion"? BULLSHIT. the card was deliberately torn into pieces and then taped back together. see evidence below:

i mean, i could understand if it was bent or even a corner had torn off or something. but this looks like it was deliberately torn into pieces and then taped back together. so either someone A) got it by mistake, tore it up, THEN returned it to the usps, or B) some angry postal worker couldn't stand delivering another holiday card.
either way, i'm pretty upset. also, inside the card, it says "have the best 2009". if this card is any indication of how my 2009 is gonna go, then i'm in deep shit.
