this past weekend, my friend T and i covered bars from the lower east side to the upper east side within the span of 24 hours. friday night was a friend's going away party. he's now in chicago, but it was fun ruling the pool table at ace bar that night. saturday we met up with other friends to support them in a beirut tournament. T and i were on the waiting list, but ended up not being able to participate. so we just took advantage of the $3 miller lites. while cheering for various teams, we met some guys and had some good conversation. my friend T and i ended up leaving the bar to grab food and head over to another neighborhood. this guy, i'll call him "upper east side" or UES for short, said he wanted to meet up with me later, so we exchanged numbers.

later that night after some good food and a movie, T and i decided to go to our next destination in turtle bay. UES texted me to find out where we were going. after a while, he texted to say his friends didn't want to come "all the way down there". keep in mind the upper east side is only 4 subway stops OR a $6 cab ride. we exchanged a few texts. then UES was like, "why don't you come over here?", i was like, "no, i'm with friends". then UES said that he'd go to my apartment. that's when i knew for sure where he was headed. in which case in continued to say i was out with friends and politely declined. so T and i stayed out and ignored other texts that night.

i was sure i wouldn't hear from him again, but today at work, i picked up my cell phone and noticed a missed call...from UES. he didn't leave a message, but i sure as hell wasn't in a hurry to call him back. and i didn't. he seemed like a nice guy at first, and i gladly would've been happy to meet him again if he 1) wasn't so anxious, and 2) would've left a message. i don't like returning phone calls if people don't leave a message.
